LEPR Gene Test Service

Inquiry

Overview

Leptin (LEP) is a peptide hormone secreted by white adipose tissue that plays a key role in energy metabolism, appetite control, and fat deposition by signaling through binding to the leptin receptor (LEPR). LEPR belongs to the type I cytokine transmembrane receptor, which contains an extracellular binding region, a transmembrane region, and an intracellular region. The LEP signaling pathway is essential for the maintenance of energy homeostasis in mammals. The LEPR gene is associated with diseases such as obesity, hypertension, and diabetes. Protheragen provides comprehensive Genetically Induced Obesity research to meet the needs of our clients. We want to be your first choice for Obesity Causation Analysis.

Genome-wide Analyses Reveal an Association Between LEPR Gene Variants and Obesity

Monogenic Obesity has a clear hereditary nature, rapid progression, high obesity, and multiple complications, so the identification of the LEPR gene is of great significance to the pathogenesis of monogenic obesity as well as the precise treatment of the disease.

Experimental Populations and Phenotypic Measurements

Relying on advanced monitoring systems, our company provides animal husbandry, metrics, and animal modeling services. Moreover, we provide routine metrics measurement services such as body condition score (BCS), body weight (BW), subcutaneous back fat (BF), and muscle (BM) depth.

Single-Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) Data

Our company provides DNA sample collection, primer designing, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification, and DNA sequencing services. Our researchers provide whole-genome sequencing services by constructing individual DNA libraries. We use real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR for quantification.

Functional Analysis

Our company offers very comprehensive analysis including but not limited to screening functional non-synonymous single nucleotide polymorphisms (nsSNPs), analysis of amino acid substitutions on mutant protein stability, analysis of conserved residues in LEPR proteins, prediction of disease-related amino acid substitutions and phenotypes, prediction of ligand-binding sites, association analysis of polymorphisms in the LEPR gene.

Workflow

Our company has a very standard genetic test analysis process from sample collection, library construction, sequencing, and computational prediction to statistical analysis. According to the client's research needs, we provide satisfactory LEPR gene analysis solutions. Importantly, we provide reaction product testing, recovery and purification, and sequencing services.

Applications

  • The identification of candidate mutations in the LEPR gene provides new opportunities to gain insight into the genetic regulation in the management of mammalian body reserves.
  • The LEPR gene has an important role in drug development as a drug target. LEPR gene testing can be used to screen individuals for sensitivity or resistance to specific drugs.
  • Genetic testing provides insight into the structure and function of the LEPR gene and the mechanism of its role in metabolism, obesity, and related diseases.

Advantages of Us

  • We use advanced gene sequencing technology and algorithms to accurately detect genetic variants and mutations associated with obesity, providing clients with reliable test results.
  • Our company is very concerned about protecting the privacy of our clients and ensuring that clients' sample information is not leaked or misused.
  • The LEPR gene testing services provided by our company are accurate, safe, and convenient.

Technology: Genome-wide association study (GWAS), High-throughput sequencing

Journal: BMC Genomics

Published: 2022

IF: 2.5

Results: Researchers collected genomic and phenotypic data from sheep. Using high-throughput sequencing technology, the researchers performed a genome-wide scan of the sheep's genome to identify potential genetic variants. The results of the study revealed the presence of multiple variant loci on the LEPR gene that were significantly associated with body fat reserves in sheep. Specifically, certain LEPR gene variants may result in sheep being more likely to accumulate fat, while others may result in lower fat reserves.
