BDNF Gene Test Service
InquiryOverview
Obesity is a complex, multifactorial health problem involving the interaction of multiple factors such as genetics, environment, and lifestyle. Among them, Genetic Factors play an important role in the occurrence and development of obesity. Relying on a professional analysis team, Protheragen provides high-quality Obesity Causation Analysis. Moreover, our company offers a professional Monogenic Obesity Gene Test Service to analyze the effects of individual genes on obesity accurately. Variations in the brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) gene, one of the key nerve growth factors, have been significantly associated with weight management, energy balance, appetite regulation, and exercise capacity in individuals.
Join Us in Deciphering the Correlation Between the BDNF Gene and Obesity
BDNF gene significantly affects feeding behavior, energy expenditure, glucolipid metabolism, and body weight changes in animals and humans. It has direct or indirect regulatory effects on energy metabolic activities. There is a strong need for a comprehensive assessment of the impact of metabolic diseases such as obesity.

Results: In this study, researchers used recombinant AAV-mediated gene transfer to transfer the BDNF gene into the hypothalamus of mice. The study found that BDNF gene transfer significantly prevented aging-related weight gain and reduced obesity. The BDNF gene increased lipocalin levels by reversing the decline in brown fat activity while reducing circulating levels of leptin and insulin. In addition to physiological improvements, BDNF gene treatment reduced anxiety and depression-like behaviors in mice, suggesting its potential to promote mental health.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
How does the BDNF gene affect fat metabolism in the body?
BDNF gene is involved in the multifaceted regulation of energy metabolism through interactions with tropomyosin receptor kinase B (TrkB) and p75 neurotrophic factor receptor (p75NTR), including participation in central nervous system regulation and energy uptake and expenditure in peripheral metabolic organs.
-
How to detect BDNF expression?
Our company uses western blotting to detect BDNF protein expression. Our researchers obtain protein samples by lysing adipose tissue and centrifuging it. We use the bicinchoninic acid (BCA) assay to determine the protein concentration separately. After quantification, our researchers make electrophoretic samples. Moreover, we quantify BDNF protein expression and analyze it through a series of electrophoretic separations, transfer, containment, incubation, and membrane washing.
Relying on advanced analysis technology, Protheragen provides professional BDNF gene test services to clients. Our goal is to help clients deeply interpret the regulatory mechanisms of BNDF genes. Please feel free to contact us if you need help.
