Anti-Obesity Compound Library
InquiryOur Anti-Obesity Compound Library Comprehensively Facilitates Your Research
Obesity, as a metabolic disease, is closely related to genetic predisposition, the external environment, individual lifestyle, and inflammatory responses in the body. Obesity exposes individuals to a higher risk of developing a complex array of metabolic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), cardiovascular disease, and certain types of cancer. In addition, obesity adversely affects key metabolic organs in the body, particularly adipose tissue and skeletal muscle. Excess adipose tissue causes adipocytes to expand in size, which triggers down-regulation of mitochondrial oxidative metabolism, impaired lipid buffering, and exacerbates inflammatory responses in the body.
Protheragen provides a library of anti-obesity compounds containing thousands of compounds that primarily target signaling pathways related to appetite control, fat metabolism, and energy expenditure, making it a useful tool for developing anti-obesity drugs.

Results: This article focuses on the role and mechanisms of D-mannitol in promoting mitochondrial biosynthesis and browning in adipocytes. The researchers screened a natural product library containing 133 compounds to assess their ability to induce 3T3-L1 preadipocyte differentiation. D-mannitol was found to significantly increase mitochondrial content in differentiated 3T3-L1 adipocytes. D-mannitol-treated adipocytes exhibited browning characteristics, including upregulation of the expression of a range of factors associated with brown fat, such as Tbox protein 1 (Tbx1), transmembrane protein 26 (Tmem26), CBP/p300-interacting transactivator 1 (Cited1) a, PR domain containing 16 (PRDM16) and PPARγ coactivator 1α (PGC1α). The findings contribute to an in-depth understanding of the molecular mechanisms of adipocyte browning and provide a theoretical basis for the development of novel anti-obesity drugs.
