Product Overview
Description:
Pyruvate assay kit (Colorimetric or fluorometric) is a metabolic assay kit for the rapid and sensitive detection of pyruvate.
Assay Principle:
Pyruvate oxidase and hydrogen peroxide can be measured in one step using a single working reagent. The color intensity of the reaction product at 570nm or the fluorescence intensity at Ex/Em = 530/585nm is proportional to the pyruvate concentration in the sample.
Background:
Pyruvate is a key intermediate in the cellular metabolic pathway. It can be converted to carbohydrates via gluconeogenesis, to fatty acids or energy via acetyl-CoA, and to the amino acids alanine and ethanol. Abnormal pyruvate levels are associated with liver disease and metabolic disorders. Simple, straightforward, and automated procedures for measuring pyruvate concentration have a wide range of applications in research and drug discovery.
Synonyms:
2-Oxopropanoate; Pyruvic acid
Applications:
Pyruvate assay kit (Colorimetric or fluorometric) is used to detect pyruvate in biological samples, and evaluate of drugs on its metabolism.
