Product Overview
Description:
Oxalate assay kit (Colorimetric) is a metabolic assay kit for the rapid and sensitive detection of oxalate. The detection limit is 20 µM.
Assay Principle:
The oxalate oxidase reaction and the color development reaction can be performed in one step using a single working reagent. Thus, the color intensity of the reaction product at 595 nm changes in proportion to the amount of oxalate in the sample.
Background:
Oxalate is a molecule composed of an oxide and a carboxyl group. It is a metabolic breakdown product during the Krebs cycle and can be found in mammalian urine. Oxalate can combine with calcium to form insoluble calcium oxalate, which leads to kidney stones. Calcium is excreted in high concentrations in normal urine, making oxalate a more accurate marker for kidney stones.
Synonyms:
Oxalic acid; Ethanedioate
Applications:
Oxalate assay kit (Colorimetric) is used to detect oxalate (oxalic acid) in urine and animal tissue samples.
Research Area:
TCA cycle; Obesity research; Food safety and analysis; Cation and inorganic ion
