Product Overview
Description:
Lactase activity assay kit is an enzyme activity test kit for the rapid and sensitive detection of lactase in the range of 12.5-2000 U/mL.
Assay Principle:
Lactase breaks down lactose to produce glucose. In the presence of the enzyme, glucose produces hydrogen peroxide. In the presence of a chromogenic oxygen receptor, peroxidase catalyzes the production of a colored substance from hydrogen peroxide. Lactase activity can be calculated by measuring the OD at 505 nm.
Background:
Lactase is a glycoprotein with two active sites that catalyze the hydrolysis of various β-glycosidic bonds. It catalyzes the breakdown of lactose into glucose and galactose. Lactase plays a crucial role in neonatal nutrition in humans and other mammals because this enzyme is the only small intestinal brush border hydrolase responsible for the digestion of lactose. Low lactase levels and inability to digest lactose may lead to lactose intolerance.
Synonyms:
β-Galactosidase; Lactase-phlorizin hydrolase; EC 3.2.1.108
Applications:
Lactase activity assay kit is used to measure lactase activity in animal tissue samples, which has important applications in glycolysis, obesity, and other studies.

Glycolysis and carbohydrates; Enzyme; Obesity
