Product Overview
Description:
Lipase activity assay kit is an enzyme activity test kit for lipase activity with high throughput and accuracy in the range of 40 to 1600 U/L.
Assay Principle:
The kit is based on a modified dimercaptopropanol tributyrate (BALB) method in which the SH group formed by lipase cleavage of BALB reacts with 5,5'-dithiobis(2-nitrobenzoic acid) (DTNB) to produce a yellow product. The intensity of the color measured at 412 nm is proportional to the enzyme activity in the sample.
Background:
Lipase catalyzes the hydrolysis of ester bonds on the glycerol backbone of the lipid substrate. In humans, pancreatic lipase is the key enzyme responsible for breaking down fats in the digestive system by converting triglycerides to monoglycerides and free fatty acids. Human pancreatic lipase and its associated protein 2 are the major lipases secreted by the pancreas. In patients with acute pancreatitis, lipase levels can increase 5- to 10-fold within 24 to 48 hours. Lipase is associated with a variety of diseases. Simple, straightforward, and automated procedures for measuring lipase activity are essential.
Synonyms:
Triacylglycerol hydrolase; Triacylglycerol acylhydrolase; Glycerol ester hydrolase
Applications:
Lipase activity assay kit is used to quantitatively measure lipase activity, which has important applications in lipid metabolism, obesity, and other research.
