Description: Bovine Interleukin 6 (IL-6) ELISA kit (5-1000 pg/mL) is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA kit for analyzing the presence of bovine IL-6 in the range of 5-1000 pg/mL.

Assay Principle: The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with goat anti-rabbit antibody. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with an antibody specific for IL-6 and Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugated IL-6. The competitive inhibition reaction is launched between HRP-labeled IL-6 and unlabeled IL-6 with the antibody. A substrate solution is added to the wells and the color develops in opposite to the amount of IL-6 in the sample. The color development is stopped, and the intensity of the color is measured.

Background: IL-6 is a cytokine with multiple biological functions. It is a potent inducer of the acute phase response, acting on T cells, B cells, hematopoietic progenitors, hepatocytes, and cells of the central nervous system. It plays an important role in the eventual differentiation of B cells into Ig-secreting cells. It also acts as an actin, which is excreted into the bloodstream after muscle contraction and can promote lipolysis and improve insulin resistance.
