Product Overview
Description:
Calmodulin is a highly conserved, ubiquitous calcium-sensing protein that coordinates a wide array of downstream metabolic and signaling enzymes in response to cellular calcium fluxes. The fungal sesterterpenoid phytotoxin ophiobolin A acts as an irreversible antagonist of this calcium-binding protein, forming covalent bonds with highly conserved lysine residues across animal and plant variants to completely block calmodulin-dependent phosphodiesterase activation.
