Description:
Beraprost is a chemically optimized, orally active prostacyclin analogue engineered by replacing the unstable enol-ether function of native prostacyclin with a stable benzofuran ether core. This structural modification extends the plasma half-life from seconds to several hours, preserving potent IP receptor agonist activity to strongly inhibit platelet aggregation and modulate pulmonary hemodynamics.
