Product Overview
Description:
Lysophosphatidylcholines are a class of bioactive lysophospholipids generated through the single-chain hydrolysis of phosphatidylcholine via phospholipase A2 or lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase activities. Predominantly acylated with a saturated palmitoyl chain at the sn-1 position, these amphiphilic signaling molecules accumulate within atherogenic lipoproteins to exert pro-inflammatory actions through mitogen-activated protein kinase and G protein-coupled receptor pathways, while serving as a caspase-dependent apoptotic chemoattractant and a localized mediator of axonal demyelination.

Applications:
Lysophosphatidylcholine serves as a representative lysophospholipid for investigations of phospholipid metabolism, membrane remodeling, and lipid signaling research. It supports lipidomic profiling, analytical method development, and characterization of lysophospholipid-associated biological processes.
