Product Overview
Description:
High sensitivity bovine interleukin 6 (IL-6) ELISA kit is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate high-sensitivity ELISA kit for analyzing the presence of IL-6.
Assay Principle:
It is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for the in vitro quantitative analysis of IL-6 in different samples. The microtiter plate provided in the kit is pre-coated with an antibody specific to IL-6. Standards or samples are then added to the wells of the microtiter plate along with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for IL-6. Avidin conjugated to horseradish peroxidase (HRP) is then added to each microtiter well and incubated. Upon addition of the TMB substrate solution, only the wells containing IL-6, the biotin-conjugated antibody, and the enzyme-conjugated avidin will show a color change. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulfuric acid solution, and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of about 450 nm. The concentration of IL-6 in the sample can then be determined by comparing the OD of the sample to a standard curve.
Background:
IL-6 is a cytokine with multiple biological functions. It is a potent inducer of the acute phase response, acting on T cells, B cells, hematopoietic progenitors, hepatocytes, and cells of the central nervous system. It plays an important role in the eventual differentiation of B cells into Ig-secreting cells. It also acts as an actin, which is excreted into the bloodstream after muscle contraction and can promote lipolysis and improve insulin resistance.
Synonyms:
HGF; HSF; BSF2; IL6; IFNB2; CDF; Hybridoma growth factor; Interferon beta-2; IFN-beta-2
