Product Overview
Description:
Vitamin B9 (Folic acid) test kit is a nutritional test kit that uses the microbiology method to detect the volume of VB9 in food matrices.
Assay Principle:
VB9 supplies the growth of Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus. Its growth rate is associated with the volume of VB9 within the sample. The VB9 medium (Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus added), samples, or standards are taken and added to the microwell. Afterward, they are incubated at 37°C and protected from light. Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus will start growing until VB9 is consumed entirely. It takes 44-48 hours to complete incubation. Use a microplate reader to read the sample turbidity with a 610-630 nm or 540-550 nm filter. The volume of VB9 in the sample can be determined by comparing the sample turbidity with the standards.
Background:
VB9 is found mainly in watermelon, dark green leafy vegetables, peas, strawberries, beans, and nuts. It plays a role in metabolic pathways that promote biomethylation and nucleotide synthesis and is associated with some diseases. Obesity has been found to be associated with reduced serum folate. Testing for VB9 provides useful information for the obese eye.
Synonyms:
Folate
