Description: Canine interleukin 6 (IL-6) ELISA kit (31.25-2000 pg/mL) is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA kit for analyzing the presence of canine IL-6 in the range of 31.25-2000 pg/mL.

Assay Principle: The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to canine IFN-alpha. Standards or samples are added to the micro ELISA plate wells and combined with the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for canine IFN-alpha and HRP conjugate are added successively to each microplate well and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain canine IFN-alpha, biotinylated detection antibody, and avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of the stop solution, and the color turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm ± 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of canine IFN-alpha.

Background: IL-6 is a cytokine with multiple biological functions. It is a potent inducer of the acute phase response, acting on T cells, B cells, hematopoietic progenitors, hepatocytes, and cells of the central nervous system. It plays an important role in the eventual differentiation of B cells into Ig-secreting cells. It also acts as an actin, which is excreted into the bloodstream after muscle contraction and can promote lipolysis and improve insulin resistance.
