Product Overview
Description:
Stearic acid-13C18 is a fully carbon-labeled stable isotope designed as an internal standard for the precise quantification of native stearic acid via GC-MS or LC-MS platforms. As a prominent long-chain saturated fatty acid abundant in cocoa butter, dairy fats, and hydrogenated oils, it can also be endogenously synthesized from acetyl-CoA; it serves as a poor substrate for triacylglycerol or cholesteryl ester synthesis and undergoes rapid in vivo biotransformation into oleic acid via stearoyl-CoA desaturase. Distinct from lauric, myristic, or palmitic acids, stearic acid does not elevate plasma LDL in animal models and effectively reduces hepatic total cholesterol levels.

Stable isotope-labeled
