Description:
PON-PC is a highly specialized oxidized phospholipid characterized by a truncated 9-carbon fatty acyl architecture terminating in a reactive aldehyde group at the sn-2 position of the glycerol backbone. Natively arising as a major bioactive component of oxidized LDL via the free radical oxidation of palmitoyl oleoyl phosphatidylcholine (POPC), it can also be generated directly within pulmonary environments through ozone-mediated oxidation of alveolar surfactants.
