Product Overview

Description: Cholic acid is a primary bile acid biosynthesized from cholesterol through a multi-step enzymatic cascade orchestrated by cytochrome P450 isoforms CYP7A1, CYP8B1, and CYP27A1, which then undergo hepatic conjugation to glycine or taurine via bile acid-CoA:amino acid N-acyltransferase (BAAT) to yield glycocholic acid and taurocholic acid, respectively, before being biotransformed into the secondary bile acid deoxycholic acid by commensal gut microbiota.
