Description:
Theophylline monohydrate is a natural xanthine-derived alkaloid found in Coffea arabica and Camellia sinensis that acts by antagonizing adenosine, inhibiting phosphodiesterase and prostaglandin synthesis, and regulating calcium distribution; its physiological effects include bronchial smooth muscle relaxation, central nervous system and cardiac stimulation, diuresis, and vasodilation (excepting cerebral vessels).
