Product Overview
Description:
Rat cathepsin S (CTSS) ELISA kit (3.12-100 ng/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of CTSS in rat with a range of 3.12-100 ng/mL and a specificity of 1.0 ng/mL.
Assay Principle:
The wells are coated with purified rat CTSS antibody to make a solid-phase antibody, and then CTSS and HRP-labeled CTSS antibody are added to the wells. The reaction becomes an antibody-antigen-antibody-enzyme complex, and the reaction is washed completely, and then TMB substrate solution is added, and TMB substrate changes to blue color catalyzed by HRP enzyme. The reaction is terminated by adding sulfuric acid solution, and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at 450 nm. The concentration of CTSS in the sample is then determined by comparing the OD of the sample with the standard curve.
Background:
CTSS is an important member of the cysteine protease family. As a potent mammalian elastase, it can degrade various extracellular components, including fibronectin, laminin, elastin, and collagen. CTSS is abnormally expressed in various disease states, such as obesity and atherosclerosis, which makes it a biomarker and a potential therapeutic target. Studies have found that CTSS inhibitors may be a possible strategy for treating obesity.
