Product Overview

Description: Chicken α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) ELISA kit is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of α-MSH in chicken with a range of 0.156-10 ng/mL and a specificity of 0.094 ng/mL.
Assay Principle: The microtiter plates provided in this kit are pre-coated with α-MSH. During the reaction, the α-MSH in the samples or standards competes with a certain amount of α-MSH on the solid-phase support for sites on the biotinylated detection antibody that are specific for α-MSH. Excess conjugate and unbound samples or standards are washed off the plate, and then avidin conjugated to horseradish peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microtiter well and incubated. TMB substrate solution is then added to each well. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulfuric acid solution, and then the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at 450 nm ± 2 nm. The OD values of the samples are then compared to a standard curve to determine the concentration of α-MSH in the samples.
Background: α-MSH is an endogenous peptide hormone and neuropeptide of the melanocortin family. It is known as the most important hormone for stimulating melanogenesis and also plays a role in areas such as feeding behavior and energy homeostasis.
Synonyms: Intermedins; Alpha-melanotropin, Alpha-melanocortin; Alpha-intermedin; aMSH; Alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone
Applications: Chicken α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) ELISA kit is used to quantify α-MSH in serum, plasma, and biological fluid samples of chicken, providing data to support a wide range of studies.
