Engineered with both high-potency U6 and physiologically refined miR30-based shRNA, this tool allows researchers to model the impact of chronic ER stress on metabolic health. Summary:
XBP1 encodes a basic leucine zipper (bZIP) transcription factor involved in the unfolded protein response. Under endoplasmic reticulum stress, XBP1 mRNA undergoes unconventional splicing mediated by IRE1, producing an active transcription factor that regulates genes controlling protein folding, secretion, and metabolic adaptation. The unspliced isoform functions as a negative regulator, enabling tight control of ER stress responses relevant to metabolic tissues.
