Product Overview

Description: LipoKnoxa™ Human MAGEL2 shRNA AAV Particle (Silencing) targets the gene linked to Prader-Willi and Schaaf-Yang syndromes, which involve severe hyperphagia and obesity. Silencing MAGEL2 via high-efficiency U6 or miR30 shRNA delivery allows for the exploration of hypothalamic protein recycling and satiety defects. Multiple AAV serotypes are provided for optimized delivery. Every batch is subjected to rigorous QC, including functional titer and mycoplasma testing, to guarantee experimental reproducibility.

Summary: MAGEL2 is a paternally expressed, imprinted gene located within the Prader–Willi syndrome (PWS) critical region on chromosome 15q11–q13. PWS is characterized by neonatal hypotonia, developmental delay, hyperphagia, and early-onset obesity. MAGEL2 shares structural similarity with necdin (NDN), a neuronal differentiation factor implicated in PWS pathogenesis, suggesting that MAGEL2 contributes to hypothalamic dysfunction underlying the obesity phenotype.
