Description: LipoKnoxa™ Human MC3R shRNA AAV Particle (Silencing) targets the MC3R, which coordinates energy rheostasis and nutrient partitioning. By utilizing our dual-strategy platform (U6 and miR30-based shRNA), researchers can dissect the distinct metabolic roles of the MC3R versus MC4R pathways. Our system offers multiple AAV serotypes to ensure optimal targeting of the central nervous system or peripheral tissues. All particles are screened through exhaustive QC screening—including functional titer, sequence verification, and sterility checks—to ensure consistent performance.

Summary: MC3R encodes the melanocortin-3 receptor, a G protein–coupled receptor that binds melanocyte-stimulating hormone and adrenocorticotropic hormone. Unlike other melanocortin receptors, MC3R is expressed in a range of tissues beyond the adrenal cortex and melanocytes. Functional studies in knockout mice demonstrate increased adiposity despite reduced food intake, suggesting a critical role in energy expenditure and nutrient partitioning.
