Assay Principle: The ELISA analytical biochemical technique is based on PLIN1 antibody-PLIN1 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect PLIN1 antigen targets in samples.

Background: PLIN1 is an adipocyte-specific lipid-binding protein that localizes to lipid droplets and plays a central role in regulating lipid storage and mobilization. By coating lipid droplets, PLIN1 protects stored triacylglycerols from basal hydrolysis while enabling controlled lipolysis in response to hormonal stimulation through phosphorylation by cAMP-dependent protein kinase. This dynamic regulation of lipid breakdown is essential for maintaining adipocyte lipid homeostasis. Dysregulation or mutation of PLIN1 impairs normal lipolytic control and fat storage, contributing to abnormal adipose tissue function and is closely associated with obesity and related metabolic disorders, including familial partial lipodystrophy.
