Description: Bovine agouti-related protein (AGRP) ELISA kit (14,706 Da) is a ready-to-use ELISA kit for analyzing bovine AGRP levels and has high sensitivity.

Assay Principle: The kit utilizes a two-site sandwich ELISA for the quantitative detection of AGRP in samples. An antibody specific for AGRP is pre-coated on a microtiter plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells, and any AGRP is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing unbound material, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for AGRP is added to the wells. After washing, streptavidin-conjugated HRP is added to the wells. After washing to remove unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, substrate solution is added to the wells and the color is developed in proportion to the amount of AGRP bound in the first step. The color development is stopped, and the color intensity is measured.

Background: AGRP plays a role in body weight homeostasis, is involved in the control of eating behavior through the central melanocortin system, and acts as an inverse agonist of MC3R and MC4R, thereby inhibiting their constitutive activity. Genetic variants in AGRP may be responsible for obesity.
