Product Overview
Description:
Porcine α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) ELISA kit is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of α-MSH in porcine with a range of 0.16-10 ng/mL and a specificity of 0.09 ng/mL.
Assay Principle:
The micro ELISA plates provided in this kit are pre-coated with porcine α-MSH. During the reaction, the porcine α-MSH in the sample or standard will compete with a certain amount of porcine α-MSH on the solid-phase support for the sites specific to porcine α-MSH on the biotinylated detection antibody. Excess conjugate and unbound samples or standards are washed off the plate, and then avidin conjugated to horseradish peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microtiter well and incubated. TMB substrate solution is then added to each well. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a termination solution, and then the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at 450 nm ± 2 nm. The OD values of the samples are then compared to a standard curve to determine the concentration of porcine α-MSH in the samples.
Background:
α-MSH is an endogenous peptide hormone and neuropeptide of the melanocortin family. It is known as the most important hormone for stimulating melanogenesis and also plays a role in areas such as feeding behavior and energy homeostasis.
