Product Overview

Description: Porcine glucagon (GCG) ELISA kit (62.5-4000 pg/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of GCG in porcine samples with a range of 62.5-4000 pg/mL and a minimum detectable dose (sensitivity) of 37.5 pg/mL. The kit is highly sensitive and easy to use.
Assay Principle: A capture antibody is pre-coated onto 96-well plates. Standards and test samples are added along with a biotin-conjugated detection antibody to form a sandwich complex. After incubation and washing, an HRP-streptavidin conjugate is added to bind to the biotinylated antibody. A final wash removes unbound conjugates before adding TMB substrate. HRP catalyzes a reaction producing a blue color, which turns yellow upon adding an acidic stop solution. The intensity of the final color is directly proportional to the amount of target captured, which is determined by reading absorbance at 450 nm.
Background: Glucagon is a hormone secreted by A cells of the islets of Langerhans, playing a pivotal role in glucose metabolism and homeostasis. Its primary function is to regulate blood glucose levels by promoting gluconeogenesis and inhibiting glycolysis. The dynamic equilibrium between glucagon and insulin is crucial for maintaining healthy metabolism. The detection of glucagon and analysis of its associated pathways provide key insights into understanding and treating obesity.
Synonyms: GLP1; GLP2; GRPP; Glicentin-related polypeptide; Glucagen; Oxyntomodulin; Incretin hormone; GC
Applications: Porcine glucagon (GCG) ELISA kit (62.5-4000 pg/mL) is used to quantify GCG in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell, tissue lysate, and other liquid samples of porcine, providing data to support research in a wide range of areas, including endocrinology, obesity, metabolism, and others.
