Description:
Mouse fatty acid synthase (FAS) ELISA kit (0.156-10 ng/mL, 0.057 ng/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of FAS in mouse with a range of 0.156-10 ng/mL and a specificity of 0.057 ng/mL.
Assay Principle:
The microtiter plates provided in this kit are pre-coated with FAS-specific antibodies. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells along with the biotin-conjugated FAS-specific antibody. Avidin conjugated to horseradish peroxidase (HRP) is then added to each microtiter plate well and incubated. Only wells containing FAS, biotin-conjugated antibody, and enzyme-conjugated avidin will show a color change upon addition of TMB substrate solution. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulfuric acid solution, and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at 450 nm ± 10 nm. The concentration of FAS in the sample can then be determined by comparing the OD value of the sample to a standard curve.
Background:
FAS is a multi-enzyme protein that catalyzes fatty acid synthesis. It is essential for the de novo synthesis of long-chain saturated fatty acids from acetyl-CoA, malonyl-CoA, and NADPH. Studies have found that FAS may be involved in obesity by regulating feeding behavior and energy homeostasis, potentially playing a role in body weight regulation and obesity development.
