Product Overview

Description: Mouse adipose triglyceride lipase (ATGL) ELISA kit is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of ATGL in mouse samples with a range of 0.156-10 ng/mL. The kit is highly sensitive and easy to use.
Assay Principle: The ELISA analytical biochemical technique is based on ATGL antibody-ATGL antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect ATGL antigen targets in samples.
Background: ATGL, also known as PNPLA2, is the rate-limiting enzyme in the intracellular lipolysis pathway and a key member of the Triglyceride Lipase (TGL) family. ATGL primarily catalyzes the first step in the hydrolysis of triglycerides (TG) stored in cellular lipid droplets into diglycerides and free fatty acids (FFA). In obesity research, ATGL occupies a central position as it directly governs energy storage and mobilization. Dysregulation of ATGL activity leads to ectopic TG accumulation in non-adipose tissues such as the liver and muscle, triggering lipotoxicity and associated pathological responses. Furthermore, ATGL activity influences FFA release, thereby affecting systemic energy balance and adipose tissue inflammation. Consequently, ATGLs represent key targets for understanding lipolysis dysregulation and obesity-related metabolic complications.
Synonyms: PEDF-R; TTS2; Desnutrin; Pigment epithelium-derived factor; Transport-secretion protein 2; Calcium-independent phospholipase A2; PNPLA2; Patatin like phospholipase domain containing protein 2
Applications: Mouse adipose triglyceride lipase (ATGL) ELISA kit is used to quantify ATGL in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, and other biological fluids of mice, providing data to support research in a wide range of areas, including lipid metabolism, energy balance, and thermogenesis, among others.
Research Area: Lipid metabolism; Energy balance and thermogenesis
