Product Overview
Description:
Monkey melanin-concentrating hormone receptor 1 (MCHR1) ELISA kit-Quantitative sandwich is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of MCHR1 in monkey samples. The kit is highly sensitive and easy to use.
Assay Principle:
This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantify MCHR1 in samples. An antibody specific for MCHR1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells, allowing any MCHR1 present to be captured by the immobilized antibody. After the removal of unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated detection antibody specific for MCHR1 is added. Following a wash step, streptavidin-conjugated HRP is introduced. After a final wash to remove any unbound reagents, a substrate solution is added, and color develops in direct proportion to the amount of MCHR1 bound. The enzymatic reaction is stopped, and the intensity of the color is measured spectrophotometrically.
Background:
MCHR1 is the primary receptor for the neuropeptide MCH (melanocortin-1 hormone), a G protein-coupled receptor predominantly expressed in the central nervous system. As a mediator of pro-appetite signaling, MCH strongly stimulates food intake and reduces energy expenditure by activating MCHR1, thereby promoting weight gain. Consequently, MCHR1 represents one of the most critical central targets in anti-obesity drug development, with antagonists designed to inhibit MCH's pro-appetite effects.
Synonyms:
GPR24; MCH1R; G-protein coupled receptor 24; MCH-1R; MCH receptor 1
