Product Overview

Description: Human ghrelin (GHRL) ELISA kit (1.875-120 pg/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of GHRL in human samples with a range of 1.875-120 pg/mL and a minimum detectable dose (sensitivity) of 1.125 pg/mL. The kit is highly sensitive and easy to use.
Assay Principle: This competitive ELISA utilizes a microplate pre-coated with the target antigen. Target molecules in the sample compete with the solid-phase antigen for binding sites on a biotinylated detection antibody. Following a wash, HRP-streptavidin is added. After a subsequent wash and the addition of TMB substrate, the reaction is terminated with sulfuric acid. The O.D. is measured at 450 nm, where color intensity is inversely proportional to the amount of target in the sample.
Background: Ghrelin is a peptide hormone primarily secreted by the stomach, exerting its effects by binding to the growth hormone secretagogue receptor type 1 (GHSR). It plays multiple roles in the body, but its most well-known function is regulating energy balance and appetite. Research indicates that ghrelin levels and their regulation of appetite may be abnormal in obese individuals. It is considered a key target for developing anti-obesity drugs.
Synonyms: MTLRP; Preproghrelin; Growth hormone secretagogue receptor ligand; Appetite-regulating hormone; Growth hormone-releasing peptide; Motilin-related peptide
Applications: Human ghrelin (GHRL) ELISA kit (1.875-120 pg/mL) is used to quantify GHRL in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell, tissue lysate, and other liquid samples of human, providing data to support research in a wide range of areas, including signal transduction, endocrinology, gastroenterology, metabolism, obesity, and others.
Research Area: Signal transduction; Endocrinology; Gastroenterology; Metabolism; Obesity
