Product Overview
Description:
Human cocaine- and amphetamine-regulated transcript (CART) ELISA kit (15.6-1000 pg/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of CART in human with a range of 15.6-1000 pg/mL and a specificity of 3.9 pg/mL.
Assay Principle:
The microtiter plate has been pre-coated with an antibody specific for CART. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells, and any CART present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing unbound material, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for CART is added to the wells. After washing, avidin-conjugated horseradish peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. After washing to remove unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells, and the color develops in proportion to the amount of CART bound in the first step. The color development is stopped, and the intensity of the color is measured.
Background:
CART is processed by prohormone/proprotein convertases to produce smaller, biologically active peptides and is considered to be involved in the regulation of appetite and stress. Its function is closely related to the actions of Leptin and Neuropeptide Y. Mutations in the gene are associated with obesity susceptibility.
Synonyms:
CARTPT
