Product Overview
Description:
Bovine glucagon (GCG) ELISA kit (31.2-2000 pg/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of GCG in bovine samples with a range of 31.2-2000 pg/mL and a minimum detectable dose (sensitivity) of up to 12 pg/mL. The kit is highly sensitive and easy to use.
Assay Principle:
This kit features a microplate pre-coated with a bovine GCG monoclonal capture antibody. Upon sample addition, any GCG antigen present is immobilized by the capture antibody. The wells are subsequently washed with PBS or TBS. A biotin-labeled polyclonal detection antibody is then introduced to form a sandwich complex with the captured GCG. Following another wash, an avidin-peroxidase conjugate is added to bind to the biotinylated antibody. A final wash removes unbound reagents before the addition of TMB substrate. The HRP enzyme catalyzes a color change to blue, which shifts to yellow upon adding the stop solution. The final color intensity is directly proportional to the concentration of GCG in the samples.
Background:
Glucagon is a hormone secreted by A cells of the islets of Langerhans, playing a pivotal role in glucose metabolism and homeostasis. Its primary function is to regulate blood glucose levels by promoting gluconeogenesis and inhibiting glycolysis. The dynamic equilibrium between glucagon and insulin is crucial for maintaining healthy metabolism. The detection of glucagon and analysis of its associated pathways provide key insights into understanding and treating obesity.
Synonyms:
GLP1; GLP2; GRPP; Glicentin-related polypeptide; Glucagen; Oxyntomodulin; Incretin hormone; GC
