Product Overview
Description:
Chicken ghrelin (GHRL) ELISA kit (123.5-10000 pg/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of GHRL in chicken samples with a range of 123.5-10000 pg/mL and a minimum detectable dose (sensitivity) of 48.4 pg/mL. The kit is highly sensitive and easy to use.
Assay Principle:
This assay utilizes a competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. A monoclonal antibody specific for GHRL is pre-coated onto a microplate. Endogenous GHRL from the sample and a fixed amount of biotin-labeled GHRL compete for binding to the immobilized antibody. After incubation and washing, an avidin-HRP conjugate is added to bind the captured biotinylated GHRL. Upon substrate addition, the resulting color intensity is inversely proportional to the concentration of GHRL in the sample. A higher concentration of sample GHRL results in less biotin-labeled GHRL binding, thereby producing a weaker color signal.
Background:
Ghrelin is a peptide hormone primarily secreted by the stomach, exerting its effects by binding to the growth hormone secretagogue receptor type 1 (GHSR). It plays multiple roles in the body, but its most well-known function is regulating energy balance and appetite. Research indicates that ghrelin levels and their regulation of appetite may be abnormal in obese individuals. It is considered a key target for developing anti-obesity drugs.
Synonyms:
MTLRP; Preproghrelin; Growth hormone secretagogue receptor ligand; Appetite-regulating hormone; Growth hormone-releasing peptide; Motilin-related peptide
Applications:
Chicken ghrelin (GHRL) ELISA kit (123.5-10000 pg/mL) is used to quantify GHRL in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids of chicken, providing data to support research in a wide range of areas, including signal transduction, endocrinology, gastroenterology, metabolism, obesity, and others.
