Product Overview

Description: Sheep insulin (INS) ELISA kit-Quantitative competitive is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of INS in sheep samples with a minimum detectable dose (sensitivity) of 0.1 ng/mL. The kit is highly sensitive and easy to use.
Assay Principle: This INS ELISA Kit utilizes a competitive enzyme immunoassay technique, where endogenous insulin in the sample competes with a fixed amount of HRP-conjugated INS for a limited number of binding sites on a microtiter plate pre-coated with a polyclonal anti-INS antibody. During a one-hour incubation, the formation of antibody-antigen complexes is established, followed by a five-step wash cycle to remove unbound substances before the addition of an HRP-specific substrate, which generates a blue-colored product. The reaction is terminated with a stop solution, shifting the color to yellow for spectrophotometric measurement at 450nm, where the resulting signal intensity is inversely proportional to the INS concentration in the sample. By plotting a standard curve of optical density versus known concentrations, the precise INS levels in unknown samples are accurately interpolated, providing a sensitive and reliable quantitative analysis.
Background: INS is a hormone composed of an A chain and a B chain linked by two disulfide bonds. Secreted by the pancreas, it functions as a key regulator of metabolism within the body. Its primary role is to lower blood glucose levels by promoting glucose uptake into cells. INS is fundamentally linked to obesity through its role in energy metabolism and its relationship with insulin resistance. By targeting the insulin receptor signaling pathway and the diverse metabolic processes it regulates, researchers can develop novel anti-obesity therapies.
Synonyms: Pancreatic insulin
Applications: Sheep insulin (INS) ELISA kit-Quantitative competitive is used to quantify INS in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants, body fluid, tissue homogenate of sheep, providing data to support research in a wide range of areas, including metabolic pathway, endocrinology, hormone metabolism, obesity, etc.
