Description:
Rat pancreatic lipase (PL) ELISA kit (7.813-500 pg/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of PL in rat samples with a range of 7.813-500 pg/mL and a minimum detectable dose (sensitivity) of 4.69 pg/mL. The kit is highly sensitive and easy to use.
Assay Principle:
This ELISA kit uses the sandwich-ELISA method. The microtiter plate provided is pre-coated with an antibody specific to PL. Standards or samples are added to the wells to bind with the capture antibody. A biotinylated detection antibody specific for PL and an avidin-HRP conjugate are then added successively and incubated. After washing away free components, a substrate solution is introduced. Wells containing the PL complex will appear blue and then turn yellow upon the addition of a sulphuric acid stop solution. The O.D., measured at 450 nm ± 2 nm, is directly proportional to the concentration of PL.
Background:
PL, a key member of the lipase gene family located at chromosomal position 10q26.1, is a specialized carboxyl esterase (EC 3.1.1.3) specifically expressed in the pancreas and secreted into the extracellular region. This hydrolase is essential for the efficient digestion of dietary fats, specifically driving the hydrolysis of insoluble, emulsified triglycerides into absorbable components. Beyond its primary role in lipid catabolism and cholesterol absorption, PNLIP is involved in retinoid metabolic processes and is the central molecular driver in Pancreatic Lipase Deficiency, making it a fundamental target for understanding gastrointestinal lipid digestion and its systemic impact on energy balance.
