Product Overview
Description:
Rat glucagon (GCG) ELISA kit (0.78-50 pg/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of GCG in rat samples with a range of 0.78-50 pg/mL and a minimum detectable dose (sensitivity) of 0.195 pg/mL. The kit is highly sensitive and easy to use.
Assay Principle:
A specific capture antibody for GCG is pre-coated onto a microplate. When standards and samples are added, GCG is immobilized by the capture antibody. After washing away unbound components, a biotin-conjugated detection antibody is introduced to form a sandwich complex. Following a second wash, an avidin-HRP conjugate is added to bind the biotinylated antibody. Finally, a substrate solution is introduced, and color develops in direct proportion to the amount of GCG bound. The reaction is stopped, and the color intensity is measured to determine the GCG concentration.
Background:
Glucagon is a hormone secreted by A cells of the islets of Langerhans, playing a pivotal role in glucose metabolism and homeostasis. Its primary function is to regulate blood glucose levels by promoting gluconeogenesis and inhibiting glycolysis. The dynamic equilibrium between glucagon and insulin is crucial for maintaining healthy metabolism. The detection of glucagon and analysis of its associated pathways provide key insights into understanding and treating obesity.
Synonyms:
GLP1; GLP2; GRPP; Glicentin-related polypeptide; Glucagen; Oxyntomodulin; Incretin hormone; GC
