Product Overview

Description: Rat ghrelin (GHRL) ELISA kit (78-5000 pg/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of GHRL in rat samples with a range of 78-5000 pg/mL and a minimum detectable dose (sensitivity) of 28 pg/mL. The kit is highly sensitive and easy to use.
Assay Principle: This kit employs a sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. A microplate is pre-coated with a capture antibody specific to GHRL. Standards or samples are added to the wells along with a biotin-conjugated detection antibody to form a "sandwich" complex with any GHRL present. After incubation, an avidin-HRP conjugate is introduced to each well. A final wash removes all unbound components before a TMB substrate solution is added. The enzymatic reaction is terminated with sulfuric acid, and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at 450 nm ± 10 nm. The GHRL concentration is determined by comparing the sample absorbance (O.D.) to a standard curve.
Background: Ghrelin is a peptide hormone primarily secreted by the stomach, exerting its effects by binding to the growth hormone secretagogue receptor type 1 (GHSR). It plays multiple roles in the body, but its most well-known function is regulating energy balance and appetite. Research indicates that ghrelin levels and their regulation of appetite may be abnormal in obese individuals. It is considered a key target for developing anti-obesity drugs.
Synonyms: MTLRP; Preproghrelin; Growth hormone secretagogue receptor ligand; Appetite-regulating hormone; Growth hormone-releasing peptide; Motilin-related peptide
Applications: Rat ghrelin (GHRL) ELISA kit (78-5000 pg/mL) is used to quantify GHRL in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids of rat, providing data to support research in a wide range of areas, including signal transduction, endocrinology, gastroenterology, metabolism, obesity, and others.
Research Area: Signal transduction; Endocrinology; Gastroenterology; Metabolism; Obesity
