Product Overview
Description:
Rat cocaine- and amphetamine-regulated transcript (CART) ELISA kit (0.313-20 ng/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of CART in rat with a range of 0.313-20 ng/mL and a specificity of 0.188 ng/mL.
Assay Principle:
Pre-coat the 96-well plate with anti-rat CART antibody. A biotin-conjugated anti-rat CART antibody is used as the detection antibody. Standards, test samples, and biotin-conjugated detection antibody are subsequently added to the wells and washed with buffer. HRP-streptavidin is added, and the unbound conjugate is washed away with washing solution. TMB substrate is used to observe the HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB produces a blue product catalyzed by HRP, which turns yellow upon addition of an acidic termination solution. The density of yellow color is proportional to the amount of rat sample captured in the plate. The concentration of rat CART can be calculated by reading the absorbance of the external standard method at 450 nm with a microplate reader.
Background:
CART is processed by prohormone/proprotein convertases to produce smaller, biologically active peptides and is considered to be involved in the regulation of appetite and stress. Its function is closely related to the actions of Leptin and Neuropeptide Y. Mutations in the gene are associated with obesity susceptibility.
Synonyms:
CARTPT
