Product Overview
Description:
Rat butyrylcholinesterase (BCHE) ELISA kit (1.56-100 ng/mL, 0.44 ng/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of BCHE in rat with a range of 1.56-100 ng/mL and a specificity of 0.44 ng/mL.
Assay Principle:
The microtiter plate provided in this kit is pre-coated with an antibody specific for BCHE. Standards or samples are then added to the corresponding microtiter plate wells along with a biotin-conjugated antibody preparation specific for BCHE. Avidin conjugated to horseradish peroxidase (HRP) is then added to each microplate well and incubated. Upon addition of the TMB substrate solution, only the wells containing BCHE, biotin-conjugated antibody, and enzyme-conjugated avidin will show a color change. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulfuric acid solution, and the color change is then measured spectrophotometrically at 450 nm ± 10 nm. The concentration of BCHE in the sample is then determined by comparing the OD of the sample to a standard curve.
Background:
BCHE is a non-specific cholinesterase that has broad substrate specificity and is involved in detoxification reactions, drug metabolism, among other processes.
Synonyms:
BuChE; CHE1; E1; Pseudocholinesterase; Cholinesterase; Acylcholine acylhydrolase; Butyrylcholine esterase; Choline esterase II; EC 3.1.1.8
