Product Overview
Description:
Mouse uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2) ELISA kit-Quantitative sandwich is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of UCP2 in mouse samples with a range of 0.156-10 ng/mL and a minimum detectable dose (sensitivity) of 0.055 ng/mL. The kit is highly sensitive and easy to use.
Assay Principle:
The principle applied in this kit is the sandwich enzyme immunoassay. The provided microtiter plate is pre-functionalized with an antibody specific to UCP2. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for UCP2. Subsequently, avidin-conjugated HRP is added to each microplate well and incubated. Upon addition of TMB substrate, only wells containing the UCP2 complex will exhibit a colorimetric change. The enzymatic reaction is terminated with a sulphuric acid solution, and the absorbance is measured at 450 nm ± 10 nm. The concentration of UCP2 in the specimens is determined by mapping the O.D. results against the standard curve.
Background:
Uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2) is a mitochondrial transporter that facilitates proton leakage across the inner mitochondrial membrane, reducing ATP production and dissipating energy as heat. By modulating mitochondrial membrane potential and cellular metabolism, UCP2 influences oxidative stress, insulin response, and energy balance. Dysregulation of UCP2 activity has been linked to altered energy expenditure and fat accumulation, contributing to obesity and obesity-related metabolic traits.
Synonyms:
Uncoupling protein 2; mitochondrial; SLC25A8; UCPH; Solute carrier family 25 member 8; Mitochondrial uncoupling protein 2
Applications:
Mouse uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2) ELISA kit-Quantitative sandwich is used to quantify UCP2 in tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and other biological fluids of mice, providing data to support research in a wide range of areas, including developmental science, obesity, and others.
