Description: Mouse fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) ELISA kit (78.125-5000 pg/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of FGF21 in mouse with a range of 78.125-5000 pg/mL and a specificity of 39.54 pg/mL.

Assay Principle: A monoclonal antibody specific for FGF21 has been pre-coated on a microtiter plate. Competitive inhibition of the reaction between biotin-labeled FGF21 and unlabeled FGF21 (standard or sample) and the pre-coated FGF21-specific antibody occurs. After incubation, unbound conjugates are washed away. Avidin conjugated to horseradish peroxidase (HRP) is then added to each microtiter well and incubated. The amount of bound HRP is inversely proportional to the concentration of FGF21 in the sample. Upon addition of the substrate solution, the intensity of color development is inversely proportional to the concentration of FGF21 in the sample.

Background: FGF21 is a member of the FGF family and is the primary endogenous agonist for the FGF21 receptor. It is involved in various physiological processes and is associated with obesity. Studies have found that treatment with FGF21 analogues can normalize glucose utilization in obese mice and have shown some anti-obesity effects.
