Description: Mouse fatty acid synthase (FAS) ELISA kit (0.156-10 ng/mL, 0.094 ng/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of FAS in mouse with a range of 0.156-10 ng/mL and a specificity of 0.094 ng/mL.

Assay Principle: The micro ELISA plates in this kit are pre-coated with an antibody specific for mouse FAS. Standards or samples are added to the corresponding wells of the microtiter plate and bound to the specific antibody. The biotinylated detection antibody specific for mouse FAS and avidin-horseradish peroxidase (HRP) conjugate are then added sequentially to each microplate well and incubated. The free components ARE washed away. Substrate solution is added to each well. Only wells containing mouse FAS, biotinylated detection antibody, and avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue. Upon addition of sulfuric acid solution, the enzyme-substrate reaction terminates, and the color turns yellow. Optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at 450 nm ± 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of mouse FAS. The concentration of mouse FAS in the sample can be calculated by comparing the OD value of the sample with the standard curve.

Background: FAS is a multi-enzyme protein that catalyzes fatty acid synthesis. It is essential for the de novo synthesis of long-chain saturated fatty acids from acetyl-CoA, malonyl-CoA, and NADPH. Studies have found that FAS may be involved in obesity by regulating feeding behavior and energy homeostasis, potentially playing a role in body weight regulation and obesity development.
