Product Overview
Description:
Mouse cathepsin S (CTSS) ELISA kit (31.25-2000 pg/mL, <7.8 pg/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of CTSS in mouse with a range of 31.25-2000 pg/mL and a specificity of <7.8 pg/mL.
Assay Principle:
Antibodies specific for CTSS have been pre-coated on microtiter plates. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells, and any CTSS is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removal of unbound material, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for CTSS is added to the wells. After washing, avidin-conjugated horseradish peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. After washing to remove unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells, and the color develops in proportion to the amount of CTSS bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped, and the intensity of the color is measured.
Background:
CTSS is an important member of the cysteine protease family. As a potent mammalian elastase, it can degrade various extracellular components, including fibronectin, laminin, elastin, and collagen. CTSS is abnormally expressed in various disease states, such as obesity and atherosclerosis, which makes it a biomarker and a potential therapeutic target. Studies have found that CTSS inhibitors may be a possible strategy for treating obesity.
