Description: Human fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) ELISA kit (15.625-1000 pg/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of FGF21 in human with a range of 15.625-1000 pg/mL and a specificity of 9.375 pg/mL.

Assay Principle: The capture antibody is pre-coated on a 96-well plate. A biotin-conjugated antibody is used as the detection antibody. Standards, assay samples and biotin-conjugated detection antibodies are then added to the wells and washed with buffer. HRP-streptavidin is added, and the unbound conjugate is washed away with washing solution. TMB substrate is used to visualize the HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB produces a blue product catalyzed by HRP, which turns yellow upon addition of an acidic termination solution. The density of the yellow color is proportional to the amount of target sample captured in the plate. The concentration of the target can be calculated by reading the absorbance at 450 nm with a microplate reader.

Background: FGF21 is a member of the FGF family and is the primary endogenous agonist for the FGF21 receptor. It is involved in various physiological processes and is associated with obesity. Studies have found that treatment with FGF21 analogues can normalize glucose utilization in obese mice and have shown some anti-obesity effects.
