Product Overview
Description:
Goat glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) ELISA kit is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of GSH-Px in goat samples with a minimum detectable dose (sensitivity) of 1.0 ng/mL. The kit is highly sensitive and easy to use.
Assay Principle:
The GSH-Px ELISA kit applies a competitive enzyme immunoassay format utilizing an anti-GSH-Px antibody and a GSH-Px-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with the GSH-Px-HRP conjugate in the pre-coated plate for one hour. Because the number of antibody binding sites is limited, endogenous GSH-Px and the HRP-conjugate compete for these positions. After incubation, the wells are decanted and washed five times to remove unbound material. The wells are then incubated with an HRP substrate to produce a blue colored product, which shifts to yellow after the reaction is terminated with a stop solution. The resulting color intensity, measured at 450 nm, is inversely proportional to the GSH-Px concentration. The concentration of GSH-Px in each sample is determined by comparing its O.D. to the established standard curve.
Background:
Glutathione peroxidase is a family of antioxidant enzymes widely distributed throughout the human body. Their core function is to protect cells from oxidative damage. Obesity itself is considered a chronic low-grade inflammatory state, often accompanied by significant oxidative stress. Glutathione peroxidase is a potential regulator of obesity.
Synonyms:
GPXP; GPx-3; GSHPx-3; GPx-P; GSHPx-P; GPX3
