Description:
Sheep insulin like growth factor binding protein 2 (IGFBP-2) ELISA kit is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of IGFBP-2 in sheep samples with a minimum detectable dose (sensitivity) of 1.0 ng/mL. The kit is highly sensitive and easy to use.
Assay Principle:
The IGFBP-2 ELISA kit applies a competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing an anti-IGFBP-2 antibody and an IGFBP-2-HRP conjugate. Samples and buffer are incubated with the conjugate in a pre-coated plate for one hour. During this time, endogenous IGFBP-2 competes with the IGFBP-2-HRP conjugate for limited antibody binding sites. After washing the wells five times, an HRP substrate is added to form a blue complex, which turns yellow upon the addition of the stop solution. The absorbance is measured at 450 nm. The color intensity is inversely proportional to the IGFBP-2 concentration.

IGFBP-2 is a multifunctional molecule that plays a crucial role in human growth, metabolism, and cellular processes by regulating the biological activity of insulin-like growth factors (IGFs). Primarily through binding to IGF proteins, IGFBP-2 prolongs their half-life in the body and modulates their interactions with cell surface receptors, thereby inhibiting or enhancing the pro-growth effects of IGFs. The role of IGFBP-2 in obesity has garnered increasing attention. Its reduced levels are closely associated with obesity, dyslipidemia, and insulin resistance.
