Description:
Rat 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 2B (5HTR2B) ELISA kit is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of 5HTR2B in rat samples. The kit is highly sensitive and easy to use.
Assay Principle:
This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantify 5HTR2B. An antibody specific for 5HTR2B is pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are added to the wells, and any 5HTR2B present is immobilized by the capture antibody. After removing unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for 5HTR2B is added. Following a wash, Streptavidin-conjugated HRP is introduced. After a final wash step to remove unbound enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added, and color develops in proportion to the amount of 5HTR2B bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped, and the final color intensity is measured.
Background:
5HTR2B is a G protein-coupled receptor and one of several receptors for serotonin. Serotonin is a crucial neurotransmitter, hormone, and mitogen. 5HTR2B primarily mediates its signaling by activating a phosphoinositide-calcium second messenger system. It plays a role in numerous physiological processes, including cardiac morphogenesis, behavioral regulation, cell proliferation, and inflammatory responses. Its role in behavioral regulation and as a target for drug side effects may be indirectly linked to obesity.
