Description: Mouse cocaine- and amphetamine-regulated transcript (CART) ELISA kit (0.156-10 ng/mL, 0.055 ng/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of CART in mouse with a range of 0.156-10 ng/mL and a specificity of 0.055 ng/mL.

Assay Principle: The microtiter plates provided in this kit are pre-coated with a CART-specific antibody. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells along with the CART-specific biotin-conjugated antibody. Avidin conjugated to horseradish peroxidase (HRP) is then added to each microplate well and incubated. Upon addition of the TMB substrate solution, only the wells containing CART, biotin-conjugated antibody, and enzyme-conjugated avidin will show a color change. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulfuric acid solution, and the color change is then measured spectrophotometrically at 450 nm ± 10 nm. The OD of the sample is then compared to a standard curve to determine the concentration of CART in the sample.

Background: CART is processed by prohormone/proprotein convertases to produce smaller, biologically active peptides and is considered to be involved in the regulation of appetite and stress. Its function is closely related to the actions of Leptin and Neuropeptide Y. Mutations in the gene are associated with obesity susceptibility.
