Product Overview

Description: Human uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2) ELISA kit (0.156-10 ng/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of UCP2 in human samples with a range of 0.156-10 ng/mL and a minimum detectable dose (sensitivity) of 0.051 ng/mL. The kit is highly sensitive and easy to use.
Assay Principle: The microtiter plate included in this kit is pre-coated with an antibody specific to UCP2. Standards or samples are introduced into the designated wells along with a biotin-conjugated antibody preparation specific for UCP2. Next, avidin-conjugated HRP is added to each well and incubated. After the addition of TMB substrate solution, color development occurs exclusively in wells containing the UCP2-biotin-avidin sandwich complex. The enzymatic reaction is terminated by a sulphuric acid solution, and the color shift is measured spectrophotometrically at 450 nm ± 10 nm. The concentration of UCP2 in the samples is determined by comparing the sample O.D. to the established standard curve.
Background: Uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2) is a mitochondrial transporter that facilitates proton leakage across the inner mitochondrial membrane, reducing ATP production and dissipating energy as heat. By modulating mitochondrial membrane potential and cellular metabolism, UCP2 influences oxidative stress, insulin response, and energy balance. Dysregulation of UCP2 activity has been linked to altered energy expenditure and fat accumulation, contributing to obesity and obesity-related metabolic traits.
Synonyms: Uncoupling protein 2; mitochondrial; SLC25A8; UCPH; Solute carrier family 25 member 8; Mitochondrial uncoupling protein 2
Applications: Human uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2) ELISA kit (0.156-10 ng/mL) is used to quantify UCP2 in tissue homogenates and other biological fluids of humans, providing data to support research in a wide range of areas, including developmental science, obesity, and others.
